Key Changes for 2026

1. Unlimited Test Attempts

Following the National Teacher Workforce Action Plan trial, there are now no test limits for LANTITE candidates. You can sit the test as many times as needed to meet the standard. This is a significant change from the previous three-attempt limit.

Note: Standard test fees still apply for each attempt.

2. First Year Requirement

Students commencing ITE courses in 2024 or later are expected to attempt the LANTITE before the end of their first year of study. This doesn't mean you need to pass in your first year, but you should make at least one attempt.

3. Enhanced Feedback

ACER now provides improved results statements with better feedback on areas needing improvement, helping you prepare more effectively for future attempts.

How to Sit the LANTITE

Test Centres

Available in major capital cities and some regional areas across Australia. Test centres provide a supervised environment with technical support available. This is the recommended option for most candidates.

  • • Supervised environment with minimal distractions
  • • Technical support available on-site
  • • Full test window availability

Remote Proctoring

Sit from home via webcam supervision. Ideal for those in remote areas or overseas. Note that the remote proctoring test period ends 5 days before the test window closes.

  • • Flexible location - no travel required
  • • Requires stable internet and webcam
  • • Ends 5 days before window closes

Visit ACER's remote proctoring page for technical requirements.

Registration Tips

  • Register early: Test centres can fill up quickly, especially in popular locations. Don't wait until the last minute.
  • Check your details: Ensure your name and date of birth exactly match your ID. Changes cannot be made after results are released.
  • Register for both components: Literacy and numeracy are separate registrations. Make sure you've registered for both if required.
  • Payment required at registration: Have your payment ready when you register. Check if your institution covers the fee.
